Five Books [plus Video] That Inspire Greatness

 In Blog

It’s so important to not only continuously educate yourself every day and work hard but to also take the time to remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Reading about another person’s success or ability to overcome obstacles serves as a reminder that we CAN do whatever we put our mind to.

It reminds us that all great accomplishments require hard work, internal fortitude and consistency.

Personally, I like to have a mix of books that provide technical know-how and books that inspire.

Inspiration can come in many forms. It can be a personal triumph or a story of success. Reading an inspirational book always gets me refocused and reenergized to tackle my goals.

If you are looking for some inspiration in your life, here are five books that I highly recommend.

  1. Jump by Steve Harvey: This is such a great book with so many valuable lessons to take away from it. It takes you through Steve’s story from when he was living in his car to becoming one of the most successful comedians and game show hosts in the country.
  2. 6 Months to 6 Figures by Peter Voogd: Do you want to get fired up and ready to crush your goals? Then this is the book for you. This is an incredible, energetic book that is filled with inspirational stories and quotes. You can’t read this book and not take your professional life to the next level. It will also give you actionable steps and systems you can implement into your life to make your dreams become reality.
  3. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki: To say this book inspired me would be an understatement. This book changed my life. I have probably read it ten times. It’s basically an entire rethinking on how money works. It deconstructs the old way of thinking that going to college, getting a job, putting money into a 401K and buying a home is what you’re “supposed” to do. It teaches you the importance of building cash flow/assets and more importantly how not to work for money but have money work for you.
  4. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: A true story based on the life and events of Louie Zamperini. Louie was a world class runner whose Olympic dreams were interrupted when he enlisted in the Armed Forces to fight for his country during WWII. Louie fought against all odds to survive a plane crash, being lost at sea for (47) excruciating days and being tortured as a prisoner at Japanese war camp for over two years. He is a true testament to what the human spirit and will is capable of. After reading this book you realize we are all capable just about anything we set our minds too.
  5. Multi-Family Millions by Dave Lindahl: This book is special to me because it’s written by my first mentor who taught and inspired me to think big and take action. Dave, along with the content in this book, helped inspire me to start SNA Capital. Every time I read it I pick up another nugget that I can use it my everyday life. Dave started his empire from nothing and grew to control over 8,000 apartment units. As the great Tony Robbins once said “If you want to be successful find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.” If you’re in the multi-family real estate game this is a great read.

BONUS: If you’re looking for quick inspiration on how to be successful go on Youtube and search “Eric Thomas, when you want success as bad as you want to breathe”. It’s a powerful message that I watch at least once a month.
